Greetings guests new and old. We wanted to update you on a change we have made regarding our email. We are phasing out the firstname.lastname@example.org email and now will be using email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org Please update this in your contact list.
There is so much to see and do in the area during the summer months. Music, food, wine, art… you can find it all within a short distance. We will add to this post as we collect information and links, but to start here are a few of the big events happening in the area. As always, contact us with any questions you might have about the local area or events.
Massarosa Festival The Strada del Vino e dell’Olio hosts events through the year that have a food and wine focus. Many of these events also feature local and national artists, musicians, journalists and speakers. You can also find maps and ideas for taking your own self-guided wine and olive oil tours of the region. http://www.stradavinoeoliolucca.it
Dave Matthews Band Lucca 2009 For our guests joining us in July check out the Lucca Summer Music Festival webpage to see what concerts fall during your visit. The Summer Music Festival is in it’s 15th year and attracts both national and international acts. To see these world-famous musicians playing in a small, antique square in the middle of Lucca is really something amazing. Tickets are reasonably priced and access is easy. http://www.summer-festival.com
RAI 1 Special Puccini Opera Festival Just minutes up the road in Torre de Lago, the Puccini Opera Festival is held in a breathtaking theater right on the lake. This year they will be performing 4 operas throughout the months of July and August. http://www.puccinifestival.it

There is a wonderful place less than 5 minutes away, down the hill, called Da Ferro. It is the really simple “scruffy” as Lorenzo calls it, trattoria. They specialize in tordelli- a meat stuffed pasta with meat sauce. I have tried to volunteer in the kitchen numerous times. We are friendly with the owners so Lorenzo always asks when I can start work. They always have an excuse- “now it is too busy” then the next time “now it is too slow, wait until it is busy and we need more help” But we know what’s really going on- they don’t want me to get a hold of the recipe! I must say, it is worth protecting, the pasta is delicious!
Hi all, what are some of your favorite things to see and do nearby the villa? I always recommend people visit the port area of Viareggio, which you can see from the villa. There are so many sailboats, superyachts and other vessels of all different sizes. I also like to visit Lucca and take guests on a bicycle trip along the wall surrounding the city. What do you enjoy in the area?
Below is some information on the area that we are located. Generally our guests visit the more well known surrounding areas, but as you can see form this link there is much to see right outside the villa gates!
